In a move which seems inexplicable for a Government who, when in opposition, extolled the virtues of frugality, the incoming Commonwealth Government has abandoned the name DisabilityCare and reverted to the title National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), giving the implementation agency the title of National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
This means that all the related signage, publicity materials, stationery, etc., previously prepared has to be changed.
To me, this seems a waste of taxpayers’ money. The reason I’ve heard given for the change is to emphasise that the scheme is an insurance scheme. Why the government thought that this was necessary, one can only speculate. Being the suspicious person I am, I can only worry that the new Government has some intention to make changes to the scheme – changes which could only be to cut costs – leading to less services for the disabled. I hope I’m wrong!
